Plebs follows three desperate young men from the suburbs...。“四人帮”统治时期，极左思潮严重，老实巴交的农民江冒富（张雁 饰）只因种的果树比别人好点，手里有俩钱，便被别人冠以“走资本主义道路”。害得儿子贵根（寇振海 饰）连对象也找不上。贵根与庆亮（仲星火 饰）的女儿兰花（顾玉琴 饰）在一次阴差阳错的相亲中意外相识并相互看中对方，但庆亮碍于冒富的名声极力反对。某记者正好采访“富”的典型，冒富又成了红人，庆亮见此，忙去求亲，反被冒富拒绝。贵根和兰花自由恋爱，俩人结婚的时侯冒富又被打成黑典型，庆亮在婚礼上拉走了兰花。“四人帮”垮台后，冒富被平了反，兰花对贵根的真情感动了兰花妈（欧阳儒秋 饰）庆亮在母女俩的逼迫下，又登上冒富的家门提亲，月亮湾响起了久违的笑声......。
