刘好（冯巩）是河北某个小县城一名普通的三轮车师傅，为人时而大大咧咧时而相当抠门，虽然生活不富裕，他还是怀抱知足常乐心态去过好每一天的日子。 刘好的生命中，一共出现过三个女人。贺文兰（张澍）离开他时，给他留下和他没有血缘关系的儿子刘小好（叮当）；经别人介绍认识杨倩（徐帆）后，刘好开始与她谈论婚嫁，但对方开出的条件相当苛刻，且嫌弃他有一个儿子，实际上刘小好已经成为刘好生命的一部分；无意间结识陈红（刘孜）后，善良老实的刘好终于收获生活给予他的回报。。讨厌动物的任春佳 (郑丹瑞饰)，在山中遇到意外，幸得流浪狗烧腩、动物义工邓悦娜 (卢慧敏饰)发现而脱险。烧腩的灵性，渐渐打开这个顽固老人的心扉，春佳和悦娜更因此成为忘年好友。在悦娜的帮助下，春佳逐渐解开和女儿素仪 (廖子妤饰)积压多年的心结。与此同时，怀着恶意的狂徒，正计划下药毒杀村中一带的流浪狗‥‥‥。Acacias 38' takes us to 1899 to narrate the story of a group of maids and the bourgeois families for whom they work.
